Dallas, I think we found our new big man in the middle to replace Dampier. Haywood had a great night last night against the Pacers, grabbing 20 rebounds along with 13 points.
Since the trade, we lost to OKC but I actually fear that team more than say, the Spurs nowadays. But since that loss after the big trade, we’ve now won 4 straight games.
Now only if we can get Kidd to shoot the ball as much as he likes to pass, we can start getting a further lead in our conference to secure a better playoff spot.
I would like to ask my friend Daniel to not go out and purchase any Haywood or Butler jersey’s because everytime he does, it seems the player starts to suck or gets traded.

So I’ve been lacking in the updates. So the Mavericks had a few losses, actually losing like 5 of their last 7games. But now, a big 7 player trade occurred right before the All-Star weekend where the Mavs sent Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, James Singleton and Quinton Ross to the Wizards for Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson.
I really like this trade and I think we got the better players out of the deal, especially with the ailing Josh Howard who’s been injured prone for the past two seasons, who seems to not care as much nowadays about his playing ability. I did like Drew Gooden but I figured he was picked up at the beginning of the season for this exact reasoning, to trade or deal in a multi-player trade.
Caron Butler brings on a healthy starter for the Mavericks, who averages what Josh did for us before injuries started sidelining him. Haywood was the leading rebounder for the Wizards, so I already think that’s a plus. He can likely replace Dampier as our starting center, putting up good numbers and even better numbers than Dampier. He also played at UNC during college, that’s always a plus for me since that’s my college team.
So let’s hope these guys can help the Mavericks for the remainder of the season, stay healthy and give us the needed boost and confidence in the playoffs this season. Perhaps with these additions, the Mavs are the new team to beat.

Okay, I’ve been bad about updates but the Mavericks are going to Utah after consecutive losses, losing to the Suns and then the Trailblazers at home, an OT loss by just 2 points.
Now if anyone hasn’t noticed this season, the Mavericks have not lost more than two games in a row when they do lose. So even though we’re playing a talented team in Utah tonight, I predict a win, maybe not by much but we got to keep our losing streaks limited.
There’s only two other teams this season who don’t have more than 2 consecutive losses in a row and you can likely guess which two, the Cav’s and Lakers.

So the Mavs last night tied the NBA record for most wins when it’s only a 1 point game by beating the Bucks 107-108 at home. The record is 10, let’s hope the next 1 point game is another win, not to get the record but instead just to get the win.

128-78, winning by 50 in New York. The biggest win in franchise history. Almost giving the Knick their worst loss ever, although it was their worst at Madison Square Garden. Doing it all without Kidd and Dampier.
I forgive you Mavericks for losing against the Sixers when you come out winning in such style.

When it comes to one point games, the Mavs seem to get it right, they’re pros at it and now might make a new record as they’ve tied the current record at 9 straight wins when it’s come down to a one point game. They haven’t lost one since January of 2007.
Shawn Marion blocked Caron Butler’s attempted last shot of the game with 1.9 seconds left to seal the win at 94-93.
The Mavericks also came into this game with a win against the Celtics in Boston, a huge win and a big blow to one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Lakers pulled off another win but Dirk got his 20,000 point of his career in this game.
Nowitzki is now 34th on the all time NBA (doesn’t include the ABA) list and should easily move up the ranks as he still has plenty of years left in him.

So Eduardo Najera is back after a trade involving Kris Humphries and Shawne Williams. I can see why this was made, it saves the Mavs some money (around 4.7 million) and releases a player off the roster that really just did nothing for the team anyways.
Supposedly Shawne Williams was benched due to his unprofessional attitude. Cuban put it as “put out to pasture” earlier this year.
As for Humphries, he has potential and was good but being a PF on a team with enough PF’s, he just couldn’t get the playing time he deserves. I’m sure the Nets will use and utilize his skills.
So Najera might not be the same player we knew before but hopefully he brings his great attitude and enthusiasm to the team.

So the Jazz learn from their mistakes. The last meetup with the Mavs, they were up 16 points until Dirk came out in the 4th quarter to score 29 to lead the Mavs past the Jazz in a come from behind victory.
This time they learned though, they did a good job getting a lead and keeping it til the end, keeping Dirk with only 10 points in the 4th quarter. Good job Jazz, too bad next time we’ll hopefully come up with a few new tricks to add to your loss total.
The final score was 111-93. Deron Williams missed the previous two games with a wrist injury.

Dirk was missing everything but that changed in the 4th quarter. With a late surge by the Mavs being down by 10, the Mavericks overcame the deficit to beat the Spurs 112-103 with a huge thanks to Dirk, dropping 16 points in the 4th and the Mavs having a combined 42 points in the 4th to secure the win.
Dirk didn’t do it alone though either with 5 other players in double digits and Terry having 21 points.
I always feel like the Mavs win the championship each and everytime they beat the Spurs!
