That was an impressive win. It will be hard to go to NO and win back-to-back games, but it would be a big statement early in the year if they can do so.

The last few years Kidd has been killed by quick guards (Parker, Billups, Paul). I expect Paul to potentially get a triple double next game but hopefully Mavs can pull through.

Mavs have looked terrible the last 3 games. Spurs are just playing too good of D on our team and we have no one who can consistently hit the open jumper. I think the series is over.

Definitely looking towards to some double teaming of Dirk in Game 2 but with Butler, Marion, Terry, Kidd and Haywood, it would really just be a mistake with our new team, unless they all have off nights which is rare. But then again, double team Dirk, let him drive the ball and get fouled, how many has he made in a row now?

Yah man, the Mavs looked good. The win was only by 6 points, but I feel the score didn't tell the whole story. As Charlie Rosen said, the Mavs made the Spurs look old and tired. Bring on game 2 and the inevitable double-teams for Dirk.

Yeah, have 2 Finley jersey's and one Howard jersey. Had a Barkely Suns and a Hardaway Magic jersey back in the day the year before they got traded as well.

I heard Dampier got injured last night so that trade my payoff nicely shortly. I know Mavs lost last night, but OKC is a good team so I can't judge the trade based off one loss against a good team when we won't be jelling for a few weeks.

Very true. Don't you have a Howard jersey? If so, isn't every player jersey you get either gets traded or retires? ;)

I like the new players, although mid-season trades can usually result badly, I hope these new additions stick around if they mesh well with the rest of the team. I'm sure they're happy to be on a winning team now anyways.

I'm actually kind of glad Howard is off our hands now. He's either going to become an All-Star again once healthy or just be injury prone the rest of his career. I'm sure they tried to push Dampier onto the Wizards but if that's true, Wizards were smart to take Gooden instead. Sadly I don't think any team will take Dampier and we're stuck with him and his contract til it expires.

Hate to see Howard go but think the trade does make us better. It will be interesting to see the chemistry of the team after the trade since they'll be replacing a few guys who haven't had many minutes in the rotation with a couple new guys who could get lots of minutes. I'm hoping that doesn't negatively affect some of the other players.

I believe the official rules claim if the player that is injured makes his free throws before leaving the game, he is allowed to return to such game. So yes, Dirk could actually be sub'd back in for the remaining 1:01 in the game if replayed.

But I agree, this will slowly die because we all know Stern absolutely despises Cuban. But then again, Stern probably wouldn't want to make his ref's look bad if it was any other team making the protest.

I've been saying for years that Stern has got to go.

So if they do replay the last 1:01...does Dirk get to sub back in? He was taken out due to injury...but I assume if it does get replayed he will be available then. This makes it even more interesting a scenario.

Of course, we all know where this is going? NBA doesn't have the balls to call out the refs like this. This story will slowly DIE, just as my confidence in the NBA as a viable sports product.

Well, they handed them the new record. The Nets bounced back though and won against the Bobcats to end the new record at 0-18. Good for them. At this rate their destined to win 4 games this year, which would be another record.
