Nowitzki Is West Player Of The Week
For the second week in a row for leading the Mavericks to 11 straight wins.
Congratulations Dirk, go for a third week in a row by keeping the streak alive.

So not to ding Josh Howard but the trade that involved him to acquire Butler and Haywood seems to have gotten sweeter and likely a very good trade at perfect timing.
Josh Howard tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee which puts him out for the rest of the season. Riddled with injuries for the past year or so, injuries which most athletes could bounce back from, I think this one is going to really put Howard down, maybe even slowly start to dissipate from the spotlight as a premier player with All-Star quality and potential.
I just hope we can actually find a way to get Gooden back and just allow Dampier to disappear from the roster here in Dallas. It was a good idea at the time to get a big man but I just felt some Dallas players just don’t have it in their hearts to win or go for that championship, like Dirk and a few others carry with them. For some, it’s about playing and winning, not the money. Sadly I think Josh Howard was one of the obvious players who just stopped caring about not only his team but his own career and performances.
Okay, I’ve been bad about updates but the Mavericks are going to Utah after consecutive losses, losing to the Suns and then the Trailblazers at home, an OT loss by just 2 points.
Now if anyone hasn’t noticed this season, the Mavericks have not lost more than two games in a row when they do lose. So even though we’re playing a talented team in Utah tonight, I predict a win, maybe not by much but we got to keep our losing streaks limited.
There’s only two other teams this season who don’t have more than 2 consecutive losses in a row and you can likely guess which two, the Cav’s and Lakers.
So the Mavs last night tied the NBA record for most wins when it’s only a 1 point game by beating the Bucks 107-108 at home. The record is 10, let’s hope the next 1 point game is another win, not to get the record but instead just to get the win.
When it comes to one point games, the Mavs seem to get it right, they’re pros at it and now might make a new record as they’ve tied the current record at 9 straight wins when it’s come down to a one point game. They haven’t lost one since January of 2007.
Shawn Marion blocked Caron Butler’s attempted last shot of the game with 1.9 seconds left to seal the win at 94-93.
The Mavericks also came into this game with a win against the Celtics in Boston, a huge win and a big blow to one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Lakers pulled off another win but Dirk got his 20,000 point of his career in this game.
Nowitzki is now 34th on the all time NBA (doesn’t include the ABA) list and should easily move up the ranks as he still has plenty of years left in him.
The Mavs beat the Kings easily, even with the Kings getting a late surge in the 4th to bring the game within 10, it wasn’t enough for them over the Mavs. Nowitzki of course led the charge with 25 points. Kidd made is first 6 buckets before missing a 3 pointer in the game.
Most might not realize this but the Mavs have the best road record in the Western Conference. To me, that’s a very good thing to be able to win on the road, it tells a lot about your team.
Tonight the Mavs face off against the Lakers. It’s a nice thought that the Mavs handed them their first loss early in the season and is one of the few teams to actually beat the Lakers this season, in LA. The Lakers have only dropped 6 games so far. A large portion of their first two months were home games so hopething the tides change when they start playing more on the road.
Both teams are healthy, it should hopefully be a great game and a good test of what’s to come down the stretch.
Mark Cuban has filed a protest with the NBA over their OT loss to the Rockets.
Basically Dampier was fouled, but the officials also said he threw an elbow on his way down in which a technical foul was called against him, his second of the game which is an automatic ejection.
If you review the play, it’s clear Dampier did not throw an elbow to cause harm. The officials could have taken back the technical thrown his way but didn’t after several on court reviews themselves.
Cuban is protesting this as a misapplication of the official rules and wants the last 1:01 of the game replayed with Houston up 110-104.
I actually couldn’t agree more and don’t blame Cuban for submitting the 10k it costs to protest such a call that could make or break a game. It might only be 1:01 left in the game but Dampier should have been allowed to make his free throws which potentially could make the score 110-106 with the Mavs getting the ball back after the flagrant foul was made against Dampier.
The Nets got handed their 18th straight loss of the season, opening up 0-18, which sets the new NBA record for the worst start in history.
That’s just not the type of record you want to be a part of, unless of course y0u are the team that defeated them to make it.
That’s exactly what the Mavs did and did it nicely. Just to make things short, not one Maverick missed more than one shot in the first half, also getting a 49 point second quarter making 17-19 field goals, almost making it a perfect quarter and close to 90% FG.
Poor Nets, maybe your next game you’ll get some more luck but then again, the Bobcats are a better team. I think the only chance at a first win to gain some confidence is likely against the Knicks after their matchup against the Bobcats, then it looks likely for a few more losses after that with their current schedule.
Well it’s confirmed that Cristal Taylor was never pregnant with Dirk’s baby after she was arrested. I always had my doubts, since she’s pretty much a con-artist anyways from her record. I’m sure she targeted Dirk from the beginning with the wrong number calling story.
I’m sure this is a huge relief for Dirk and now he can move on without this leach in his life.
